Dietary and Health Data Notice

Last updated 22 September 2026

This notice is shown in the app before you select any dietary requirement. It is part of our Privacy Policy.

Why we are asking

SpendPilot can filter your meal plans, shopping lists and swap suggestions so they fit the way you eat. To do that we need you to tell us about your dietary requirements.

Some of these selections are sensitive. An allergy, an intolerance, a medical diet, a calorie target or a weight goal tells us something about your health. A halal or kosher selection can reveal religious belief. Under UK and EU data protection law this is special category data, and we can only process it with your explicit consent.

What you can select

You choose from lists. There is no free text. The lists cover:

  • allergies and intolerances, such as peanuts, tree nuts, milk, eggs, gluten, soya, sesame, fish and shellfish;
  • medical dietary requirements, such as coeliac, diabetic or low FODMAP;
  • religious dietary requirements, such as halal or kosher;
  • lifestyle diets, such as vegetarian, vegan or pescatarian;
  • calorie or nutrition targets and weight goals;
  • dislikes and favourites.

What we do with it

  • We use your selections for one purpose: to build plans, lists and swaps that fit your requirements.
  • Your selections are sent, without your name, email address or account details, to our AI provider OpenAI so it can generate a plan that fits. OpenAI is not allowed to use them to train its models. See the AI Transparency Notice.
  • We do not use your selections for marketing, we do not sell them, and we do not share them with any supermarket.
  • We do not try to work out your religion, ethnicity or medical conditions. The selection is a food filter and nothing more.

Your choice

  • If you agree, tap "I agree" below. You can change your selections at any time.
  • If you do not agree, tap "Not now". You can still use everything in SpendPilot. Your plans will simply not be filtered for diet, and you can review each item yourself.
  • To withdraw consent later, go to Settings > Privacy > Dietary data and tap "Remove my dietary data". Your selections are deleted straight away and we stop processing them. Withdrawing consent does not affect anything we did while consent was in place.

How long we keep it

Until you change or remove your selections, withdraw consent, or delete your account, whichever happens first.

One important safety point

SpendPilot's dietary filters depend on product and recipe information that may be incomplete or out of date. Always check the label before you buy or eat anything, especially if you or someone in your household has a serious allergy. Read the Meal Plan, Allergen and Nutrition Disclaimer.

Tell us how you eat

Your dietary requirements help SpendPilot plan meals that work for you. Some of these choices count as sensitive health or religious information, so we need your explicit permission to use them.

We use them only to filter your plans and swaps. We never use them for marketing, sell them, or share them with supermarkets. You can remove them at any time in Settings > Privacy.
